The Old Stable
Experience the spirit of times past in our turf houses at Lýtingsstaðir - including The Old Stable - made from turf.
Inspired by the farm's history, we had the old stable, the shed, and the turf pen built in the traditional way from turf. The buildings are masterpieces of Icelandic craftsmanship. Today, the stable hosts an exhibition about how horses were kept in earlier times and how closely intertwined the history of people and horses in Iceland is.
